Through their sourcewater protection planning efforts, Colorado Rural Watershed Association (CRWA) produces children’s water festivals–alternative learning opportunities that complement core curriculum. Students visit different stations and exhibits over the course of the day, where they engage in hands-on water activities. The South Platte & Metro PEPO team taught 3rd–5th graders about Colorado state water rights: “First in Time is the First in Right”. Kelsea, Nicole, and Mallory also explained two SWEAP (statewide water education action plan) Water Concepts: water is scarce and humans use water for a variety of purposes.
